Committed adorers (and their substitutes) are those who have an appointment to adore for a specific hour. They are the guardians of the Eucharist for that hour, making sure that Our Lord is never left unattended. Therefore, committed adorers, you must sign in on the touchscreen at the beginning of your hour, preferably a few minutes before your hour begins. Once you have signed in, the adorer before you knows that they are free to leave. Then, when your hour is finished, you must check the touchscreen to be sure the next committed adorer has signed in before you are free to leave. When a committed adorer signs in, the red dot next to their name on the touchscreen turns green. Look for the green dot before you leave. Please do not leave the chapel in the hands of visitors who can leave the chapel at any time. Only committed adorers are committed for the full hour.
If your hour is finished, and the next person does not show up, you may check the touchscreen and call that adorer.
If no one can relieve you, you also have the option to sign in as a substitute for the next hour if you wish to do a second holy hour. You may also ask another adorer if they can stay for that hour, and ask them to sign in as a substitute on the touch screen, making sure they understand that they can only leave once the next adorer signs in.
If you need to leave for whatever reason and no one can remain in the chapel for the next hour, you may use the chapel telephone to contact your division leader, who will be listed on the touchscreen, followed by the adoration administrator, which is programmed into the telephone, followed by the parish office (also programmed into the telephone.) Then we can look for an emergency substitute for you. You must dial “9” before the number to use the chapel telephone.
If you cannot come for your hour, please attempt to find a substitute for yourself using the list of substitutes (sent by e-mail to all adorers every month), or you may send a friend or family member. IMPORTANT: we are following the guideline of trying to assign at least two adorers per hour so that the second adorer is a backup in case of a last minute emergency. If you do not use email, your division leader can also provide you with some names and phone numbers. Please instruct your substitute to sign in on the touchscreen as a "substitute" at the beginning of your hour. They will see your name and click on it so there is a record that someone signed in for you. Be sure to ask them to check the touchscreen before they leave so they know the next adorer has signed in (check for the green dot next to the name of the next committed adorer on the touchscreen). Remember: If you cannot find a substitute, please call your division leader with a much notice as possible. Please do not call the parish office, unless you cannot reach a division leader.
Nocturnal adoration (10PM to 6AM) is for regularly scheduled adorers only. You must ring the doorbell outside the chapel, and identify yourself to the current adorer who will check the touchscreen for the name of the next adorer and let you in. (Visitors are welcome from 6AM to 10PM daily.)
Thank you for your commitment to adore the Lord!! Your “yes” keeps the chapel door open for all to enjoy. Thank you for your generosity! May the Lord bless you for the gifts of your time and your prayers!!
